there are lots of reasons to go to mr chows on 57th and 1st. one of them is food, but i like to look at the place. beside the lalique door handle, the white lacquered walls and the giacometti lamp m favorite thing has to be the ice blue crystal in the entrance vitrine.

i have been obsessed with spanish born, french speaking actress maria casares lately. my favorite of her is 'les dames du bois de boulogne' but you should see 'orphe' and 'les enfants du paradis'. she is mysterious the way geishas are.

i just finished reading 'slow days, fast company' by eve babitz and am desesperatly trying to find informations about her. it is almost impossible (except the one of her playing chess, naked, with marcel duchamps in 1963). almost as impossible as finding her books that are all out of print.
